Visita Iglesia 2017
Last March 18, 2017 we went on a pilgrimage at the provinces of Tarlac and Pampanga. The pilgrimage was organized by our fellow bro., Cip Guarin. The pilgrimage started at 4:30 am. The first church we reached was the San Rafael Archangel parish. For our first stop in the pilgrimage, a mass was celebrated in the church, presided by our assistant priest Fr. Roy Borrega. After the mass, we prayed the first two stations of the cross. The Stations of the Cross is composed of 14 stations and were divided into the seven pilgrim churches. This is also called as “Visita Iglesia”. The second pilgrim church in the list was the Our Lady of Grace parish church at Mabalacat, Pampanga. The church is big and has a beautiful altar and interior. The next church is the Our Lady of Sorrows parish church. It is situated along the national road. The parish is not quite small but its interior makes it a beautiful church. The fourth church on the list is the Sto. Cristo parish church. The church is situated along the main road. The next church is Saint Michael the Archangel parish church. The church is beautiful and big and can accommodate a lot of people. The church was the last stop before our lunch. We ate our lunch at Hacienda Luisita in Tarlac. The bus stopped and we went to a fast-food chain nearby. The lunch break lasted about an hour. The next church on our pilgrimage is the Saint Raphael the Archangel parish church. It is different from the first church, but the same in their name.
Lastly, the final church in our pilgrimage is the Monasterio de Tarlac. It took a long time to go to the monastery. There were lots of winding roads leading to the monastery. The monastery is situated on a mountain. When we got to the monastery, we went first to the stations of the cross to pray. After a while, we went to the church where a relic of the true cross was located inside the altar table of the church. There are a lot of attractions in the monastery. First is the church where the relic of the true cross was located. Second is the souvenir store inside the monastery that provided different kinds of pasalubongs, either foods or things. The third attraction in the monastery is the tall statue of Jesus Christ overlooking the plains. The place is a nice place to pray, relax, reflect, and to feel the clean air of the province.
On our trip back to Manila, we encountered a little problem. The driver was lost his track and we had to find the way to the main road. Hopefully, one of the residents along the way helped us how to get out to the area. It was about 9:30 pm when we reached home. The pilgrimage was great and a time for self reflection.
